She padded out, her tail dragging in the dust. She approached Eaglespirit quietly. "We're done." She mewed quietly, looking up at her with sad eyes.

The she-cat glanced down towards Morning once she had reached her. Seeing how sad she was made Eaglespirit's heart hurt for the young she-cat. The leader herself hadn't had either parents as a kit, ut she had grown up to become the leader and one of the most loyal cats to the Pride. "Alright," she mewed and bent down to lick her head. Then she flicked her tail towards Qualtail and made her way towards the Herb Den.

She smiled weakly as Eaglespirit walked away, then turned to Hare. "I'm, I'm sorry about Onyx." Her voice was weak, but she tried to sound confident.

After he'd padded out of the den he followed Morning towards Eaglespirit and sat down, listening to them. It seemed there was nothing for him to say, until Morninf began to talk ot him again. He just shrugged his shoulders and wondered where Onyx had gone. "It's fine. It's not your fault, anyways."

"But he's going to kill you too!" she whined, shuffling her paws. "And I mean, to kill me is fine, but the whole pride cant go down with me..." She could barely hide her tears, what with the just recent death of her mother and her evil brother. It was hard to keep it confined.

"No, no he won't," Hare stuttered, although he was sure she was probably right. Besides, it was her brother, wouldn't she know? Maybe he was able to take down both Morning and Hare, but not while they were together. Also, there was no way he could take down the whole Pride! Most of these cats were older and stronger and more experinced than him anyways. All the same, he couldn't shake the feeling that Morning was right.

"Hare, I wish it wasn't true." She licked his ear, comforting him and herself. "But I'm afraid that's just what the dark forest wants." She shook her head, beginning to walk toward her den, but she stopped. "Do you want to go hunt maybe? I'm, well I need something to keep myself consentrated."

She nodded, and began to follow Onyx, but hesitated. "Can, can Hare come with me?" She asked in a tiny voice. "I mean, I mean if he isn't allowed to that's um okay...but." She shifted her paws, feeling embarrassed.

He felt a bit alone, even awkward, when Morning left his side. His large blue eyes turned towards Eaglespirit and his heart raced. Morning and Onyx alone? With their dead mother? How could it possibly be a good idea? Then he remembered that Morning had only warned him about how dangerous her brother could be. When he listened to Morning asking for him to come he got to his paws and glanced over at the leader.

The she-cat looked between the two, Morning had only been around for a few days, but had managed to become one of Hare's best friends. Friendship, one of the things she wanted inside of the Pride, so it was an easy decision, even thought the two seemed to think that she would say the opposite. The brown she-cat gave a flick of her tail and a short nod of her head, "He may come with you. That's just fine," she mewed before turning to Qualtail. Did the she-cat have anything to say about the situation?

Alpha's Den

The small dusty brown tom-cat slipped in, tail still flicking. He had made a new friend, but he had no idea that cats his age were so much different than he was. He seemed to be the micture of a kit and an alpha. Not even close to an omega, like he should be. "Qualtail? Scarslash?" he called quietly. "Eaglespirit wants you two to join her on a hunting party." He meowed. "I just wanted to make sure you two didn't sleep the whole time."

He opened his eyes, thumping his tail on the ground. "Eh, alright, but Quailtail didn't come in last night." He stood up. "I'll be out, dont you worry."

"Hmmmm," he meowed, wondering where she was. He was sure he had seen her come in last night. If not, then he was going crazy. He remebered her coming in... then he paused. Maybe she hadn't, but then still, where was she? If she wasn't here, and she knew she wasn't in the clearing, then she must be out of camp. Had she gone to see Blossomheart? 'Oh well,' he thought, 'maybe I'll cath her when she gets back.' Then he turned and made his way to the clearing. His eArs flicked as he heard Eaglespirit's calling. With even more interest he hurried along.

"I hope." He muttered, turning in his nest. "But, who knows? Maybe I'll get worse, maybe I'll get better." He sat again, looking worried. "Do you think I could go out? Maybe...hunt or something?"

"I guess Eaglespirit wouldn't mind," he meowed, but then quickly kept talking so that the name didn't linger in the air for too long. "If it'll clear your mind. There are enough cats here to protect camp while you're gone." The tom stood up and flicked his tail before heading back out to the clearing.

Herb Cat Den

The she-cat made her way into the den and looked towards Coral who was still laying in her nest. She still looked as if she were sleeping. Eaglespirit had seen dead cats before, some killed by the animals in the territory, some died of sickness. She made her way towards Coral and sniffed her, wondering what she had died from from. Then she turned to look towards the entrance, waiting for Qualtail to come in.

She followed her leader, gazing at Coral. What had happened to her...? She cleared her throat and waited for instructions.

She ignored her brother, looking back at her mother. "I'll miss you." she mewed, licking one of her ears. "And I'll keep Onyx in order, I promise." With a final look, she turned to Hare. Flicking her ears uncomfortably, she lowered her gaze. "We can leave now." She murmered, shuffling her paws.

He watched as she said her goodbyes to her mother. It was saddening, but also a bit funny that after his parents had died, he had ran. Now, after Morning's mother had died, she would be staying. Different, but still about the same. Hare let out a sigh, dead cats weren't his favorite, and he'd seen just a little too many of them. Blinking his eyes a few times, he looked up at Morning and nodded his head, moving to the side to let her go first.

She slipped past him, her eyes focused on the ground. It wasn't fair. Onyx had made her miserable...death had made her miserable...what else would? She glanced at Hare, a shiver run down her back. No, he wouldn't He couldn't...

He raced in, looking down at the only cat he'd ever liked. "Coral?" He whispered. "Why did you have to leave? You were going to see how great I was, how I was going to take over Sandpride, and make us great!" He pushed his nose into her fur. "I cant believe you left."

She padded in with Hare, her eyes locked on her paws. She was glad Hare had wanted to come with her, and it comforted her. Not even noticing her brother, she sat down and looked at her mother. She looked so peaceful. So, so happy. But why did it make her feel so upset? She closed her eyes, thinking to herself. "Hare." she blurted out suddenly in a shaky voice. "Who's going to take care of me now?" Her question ended in a wail, and she dug her nose into her mothers fur, to stop herself from crying.

He glanced at Morning, hatred burning into his eyes. He didnt even care that Hare was here, he knew how much he loathed the she-cat. "No one will care for you." He hissed, even though her question had been to Hare. "She was the only cat that ever liked you Morning, and ever will!" He bared his teeth, his claws flexing. Oh how much he wanted to sink them into her throat. But he waited, he knew this was not the time for her to die.

The dusty brown tom-cat slipped in just behind Morning, their fur almost brushing. He stopped in the entrance and let her go on up to her mother and brother, but he wanted to hang back. He wasn't extremely comfortable around dangerous cats or dead cats. Opening his mouth he began to answer Morning's question, but just as his first few words slipped out he was interupted by Onyx. He felt himself wanting to shrink away, but instead was just frozen in his spot, listening to all that the brother had to say. "Th-that's not true," he meowed a bit quietly, but said nothing else. The hatred burning inside of Onyx was enough to scare him.
